The rolling marble technique is so easy and yields great results -- in an abstract, artsy sort of way. (My thanks to Gayle Miller for teaching me this!) You need one or more empty stamp boxes that are just large enough to hold 1/4 sheet cardstock. Not much bigger or your marbling will turn out strange. Attach masking tape to the cover. This is where you will attach your cardfront background (1/4 sheet). Run the masking tape on your clothing a couple times before attaching it to the cover, to take some of the tack out of it so it won't ruin your cs. Drop several drops of reinker into the bottom of the box -- use only ONE COLOR AT A TIME or you will end up with muddy colors. (If you want multi-colored marbling, you will need to change boxes and reinkers, or clean out the one you used and replace the reinkers with a new color. If you are doing a lot of cards, put more reinker in (4-6 drops can do quite a few card fronts, trust me!). Add several marbles -- how many depends on how many lines you want dissecting your background -- I have found that 4-6 small ones give me the look I want. Attach your 1/4 sheet cs to the top of the lid. Close lid, flip box, and start rocking it back and forth and around to get the marbles to roll around from side to side and cover your cs. Do this to achieve the look you want. Pull your cs out and voila! You are ready to attach it to another piece!

I have been using the rolling marble craft for years with my in home child care bunch but never transfered the use to cards. The kids use tempera paint on paper in a cake pan and they like to sing "ROCK AND ROLL"
They do tend to get a bit nuts with it, marbles flying out ... so the covered clear box is a great idea!!!

I'm glad you are having so much fun with this technique. I love demoing this at workshops and it's always is a crowd pleaser.
Try it with VersaMark refill and then rub Pearl Ex onto your card stock. Just don't get water in your container with the VersaMark - wipe it out with a dry paper towel. Otherwise it gets white and sticky (container). I keep a container just for the VersaMark so I don't have to worry about washing it.
Keep up the great work and I can't wait to see what you come up with for convention. - I will have some to trade.

What a fun card and a neat idea! I have to try this. I have plenty of marbles rolling around the house from my son and daughter! I don't think they notice a couple missing! Thank you for sharing.
